Principal Cast Announced For My Fair Lady On Tour!
News Desk July 11th, 2019
Hitting the road in December.
After wrapping up their scintillating, and ten-time Tony-nominated, Broadway in July the 2018 revival of Lerner and Loewe's classic musical heads out on a national tour in December! Leading the cast will be Shereen Ahmed as Eliza Doolittle with Laird Mackintosh starring as Henry Higgins.
Ahmed understudied the role of Eliza, and made her Broadway debut, during the production's Broadway run throughout 2018 and 2019 and is now ready to step into limelight full time in this production's inaugural North American tour! Mackintosh is currently starring as Monsieur Andre in the Broadway production of The Phantom of the Opera.
My Fair Lady received rave reviews from the critics when it opened in April 2018 and went onto receive ten Tony award nominations, garnering one award for its stunning costumes by Catherine Zuber.
What is My Fair Lady about?
For Professor Henry Higgins, a person's voice is of the utmost importance. A student of phonetics, he holds the opinion that with the right accent and tone of speech, anything is achievable. To prove his point, he wagers a friend that he can teach cockney flower girl Eliza Doolittle to speak 'properly', and then present her as an upper-class lady at a high society ball. So the pair's lessons begin, but little does Henry Higgins know, that their time together will change him just as much as it does her!
My Fair Lady is heading out on its first North American tour this fall!
